We are farmers, family-owned and operated for over 100 years.
Our 20,000+ acres grow and harvest a wide variety of grain, pulse and oil seed crops for safe life-giving food.
For Vince, everyday is a good day to be a farmer. Vince grew up learning every aspect of the family farm operation from the inside. He quickly understood farming was changing and began to re-imagine the future of growing safe, healthy and abundant food. Vince obtained his business degree and expanded his agri-business experience working for Farm Credit Canada and for AFSC. He brought these new skills and perspectives to help reshape the family farm and build a passionate team. Vince has served as the CEO of Cas-Grain since 2016.
For Brett, farming is a profession of execution and optimism. Brett believes people need to feel a connection to the land that feeds their body, mind and soul. He attended university to build his business, management and agriculture finance experience. Returning to the farm, he expanded the operation by 400% and began to bring new crop varieties such as faba beans into the region. Brett leads the farm’s growth into value added processing – creating quality food ingredients from locally grown crops.
Our team is united in our approach and actions. Everyday we are guided by our core simple truths.
Be humble and kind.
Create opportunity for our people, community and agriculture.
Learn from the past to reshape the future.
Make great things happen through collaboration and working together.
Respect the land and the food it produces.
Farming for the growing world.
Caring for the food on your plate, starts by taking pride in everything we do. Inspired by four generations of farming we care for the land, the food it produces and the community in which we live. We embrace the art of traditional know-how with the science of modern agriculture practices to nurture and protect our natural resources. Our entrepreneurial spirit drives us to grow and expand into crops necessary for the health and wellbeing of our growing world.
Farming is our business. We work hard to manage risk and generate fair returns. We look for new value-added opportunities and global markets. Investing in our farm allows us to meet the needs of today and those in the future.
Passion and purpose go hand in hand.
One of our favorite parts of farming is the people we get to work with every day. We are fortunate to work alongside those we cherish – family and employees. The safety and the wellbeing of our people is always a priority.
Dedicated and hardworking, our team understands the great responsibility that comes with producing quality crops. We play a vital role in the food value chain and must continually increase our knowledge, technology and hands-on experience help us increase the farm’s productivity.
Farming is a vital part of our community. We strive to be role models; inspiring the next generation of farmers to help lead an ambitious vision for Canadian agriculture.
Healthier soil equals healthier food.
Cas-Grain is committed to active sustainability. Responsible land management practices and new technologies help us to protect the soil and environment.
We follow plant science and innovation to choose crops best suited to thrive in our growing region. The farm follows a three-year rotation that supports long-term soil health. Including pulse crops in the rotation revives the soil with natural nitrogen, biomass and water retention. When combined with practices like soil testing, reduced tillage and nutrient management we improve land productivity while reducing greenhouse gases.
As early adopters of technology, we know firsthand how this has advanced our farming operation. GPS allows us to be more efficient with farm equipment hours and reduce fuel usage. Continued investment in precision agriculture such as variable rate mapping, automated data gathering and analytics reduces fuel and inputs like seed, fertilizer, and chemicals, all while increasing yields. Our approach uses an integrated strategy that includes crops, operations, facilities, environment and systems - bringing all aspects together to maximize the crop’s potential from seed to table.
